I recently worked with Afari Media to create a set of fresh, modern images for their team. The brief was to move away from traditional, overly formal headshots and instead capture something that felt much more reflective of their personality as a company.
The focus was on a mix of relaxed headshots alongside more natural, lifestyle-led images of the team working together. This included capturing informal meetings, day-to-day moments in the office, and a range of creative portraits that show the people behind the brand.
Affari Media are a young, forward-thinking team, so it was important that the imagery felt energetic, approachable and full of personality — rather than stiff or overly corporate.
To achieve this, I kept things very relaxed during the shoot. Rather than heavily directing poses, I encouraged natural interaction and movement, allowing moments to unfold organically. This helps people feel more comfortable in front of the camera and results in images that feel much more genuine.
We also made use of different areas of the office to give a variety of looks — from clean, simple headshot setups through to more candid, documentary-style images.
The final set of images gives a real sense of who Afari Media are as a team — creative, collaborative and full of ideas. It’s a collection that not only showcases individuals, but also the culture and atmosphere within the business.
