This shoot was for Kier Construction at the Gateway Student Accommodation project in Lincoln city centre. I arrived during the day to make the most of the bright, sunny conditions, capturing the building in clear, crisp light and showing off the materials and overall form. I then stayed through into the evening to photograph it again at dusk, when the lighting softened and the building took on a completely different feel, with the interior lights bringing it to life.
One of the main challenges on this project was the internal courtyard. It’s quite a tight space, which made it difficult to step back far enough to fully capture the architecture. It meant being a bit more considered with angles and composition, working carefully to make the most of the space available while still doing justice to the design.
