Winter Wonderland, Nottingham — Melas
A recent shoot in Nottingham saw me working with Mellors Group to capture their Winter Wonderland installation — a vibrant, large-scale setup designed to bring together food, drink and festive atmosphere in one space.
The aim of the shoot was twofold: to document the full experience in action, and to create a strong set of images that could support future proposals, including a potential installation at Canary Wharf.
I approached the project across two sessions. The first focused on the site at its busiest — capturing the energy of the space as it was intended to be experienced. With crowds moving through, lights shifting, and colour everywhere.
The second session took place later in the evening as things began to wind down. This gave us the opportunity to photograph the interiors of the bars and structures with a bit more control — highlighting materials, lighting design and layout without the distraction of heavy footfall.
It was a cold one, but the contrast between the winter setting and the warmth of the installation made for a really striking visual environment — full of colour, texture and atmosphere.
